A US stock exchange based in New York City. In 2007 the NYSE, which dates back from the 18th century, merged with Euronext to become NYSE Euronext, Inc. In 2008 NYSE Euronext purchased the American Stock Exchange. After the merger, the business was branded NYSE Alternext US, and then rebranded to NYSE Amex Equities.It is a market for listing and trading of small and micro cap companies. It also trades NASDAQ-listed Tape C stocks and ETFs on an unlisted trading privileges basis.
