A type of loan where the credit is split, or syndicated, among a number of financial institutions. A pro-rata tranche normally features a line of revolving credit that has an end date similar to a term loan. Viewed as favorable toward the syndication of lending institutions, a pro-rata tranche distributes the credit among a number of banks thereby greatly reducing the potential loss.
